When Pharaoh took Sarah into his household, Abraham's wife, the wrath of the Lord was upon his whole household for taking Abraham's wife into his house.
Yes Pharaoh's life was spared, because at the time he was ignorant of the fact that Sarah, was Abraham's wife, none the less, his house suffered for this sin.
"And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sa'-rai Abram's wife.
And Pharoah called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?" Genesis 12:17-18
In this next example we see king David, who killed Uriah for his wife, and because of this the sword did not leave his house, and he lost a child that he had in this adulterous relationship , David did repent but the consequences that he suffered was great my brethren and I wish to spare you this.
I need you too look closely at this Scripture because in the Law of the Lord it is unclean for a man or woman to lay with someone that is other than their spouse, a man can not marry a woman who was once married, or remarry a woman once she has been with another man, or once she had been remarried again, by law, notice that the scripture said "she was purified", Uriah's wife, because she was married, king David had her purified, this meant by a certain type of washing for purification, but still she was still not clean, for a person can not be cleanse to break the Law, they are cleansed to remain clean, A woman/man who is married, must not go and sleep with another person outside of their marriage because this is uncleanness, and abomination. Diseases has come into the land because of uncleanness. So unclean is adultery, that this was and is the only cause of divorce, once someone has been outside of their marriage they are defiled before God.
"And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman was very beautiful to look upon.
And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-she'-ba, the daughter of E-li'-am, the wife of U-ri'-ah the Hit'-tite?
And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; {for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child." {2Samuel 11"2-5}
After the woman told king David she was pregnant, king David tried to get his servant Uriah to go home and sleep with his wife, that he may think that the child was his. This did not work. Now because this did not work king David set a plot to kill Uriah. And Uriah was finally killed in battle.
After Uriah's wife heard that her husband was dead she mourned for her husband.
"And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD." (2Samule 11:27)
And the Lord sent the prophet to David with His word because of this great sin.
"And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed U-ri'-ah the Hit'-tite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of U-ri'-ah the Hit'-tite to be thy wife.
Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun." (2Samuel 12:7-11)
"And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that U-ri'-ah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not , neither did he eat bread with them.
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead." (2Samuel 12:15-19)
David did repent from this sin, but the consequences was great. David house was torned apart.Read 2Samuel 12th chapter to 14, through all this David's heart remained faithful to God, and he Repented. Many don't understand the trials and tribulations they bring upon themselves, when they break God's law, but we must stand firm in Truth, and may the Lord strengthen us, that we remain Saints that keep His Commandments, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
